Fresach (22 May 2015) – On the occasion of the first European Dialogues of Tolerance The Denk.Raum.Fresach (DRF) which is an independent initiative for tolerance and integration in Europe has published “Fresach’s Declaration to Tolerance 2015”. The declaration consists of three section and 20 items, in which a profound and current understanding of the concept of tolerance is defined. It was signed by the DRF board and trustees as well as further hundred present participants of the dialogue forum at Fresach and was read on Friday evening at the tolerance museum by the president of the board of trustees, Hannes Swoboda. The former European parliamentarian will be presenting it to the president of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz.

Federal president Fischer opens the European Tolerance Dialogue 2015

Think.Tank.Fresach discus about the boundaries of tolerance in Europe

Villach (21.5.2015) – Federal president Heinz Fischer opens the European Tolerance Dialogues 2015 at a reception in Villach on Thursday. The Think.Tank.Fresach is the host of that three-day event, an independent association for tolerance and integration in Europe. Governor Peter Kaiser and the mayor of Villach Gerhard Altziebler welcome 20 thinkers, philosophers and scientists. The discussions will be under the patronage of the PEN-Club Austria and the Alpen-Adria-University and will start on Friday at the mountain village Fresach.

Brussels (04/16/2015) – Austrian MEPs Eugen Freund (S&D) and Othmar Karas (EPP) support the European Tolerance Talks. In a joint press conference with Carinthia’s Governor Peter Kaiser the two MEPs declared, the new forum for dialogue on tolerance and integration is an important initiative for Europe and the Alps-Adriatic region. The international event dedicated to the theme “How far does tolerance go? Tasks for the state, economy and society” from 21 to 23 May 2015 in the Carinthian mountain village Fresach brings together around 20 thinkers, scientists, philosophers and economists.

Dialogue for Europe: Fresach program online

Partnering with PEN Club, Protestant church and club Carinthia

Vienna (3/18/2015) – PEN Club Austria, the Evangelical Church and the Club Carinthia on Wednesday presented the program of the European Tolerance Talks in Vienna. The international event from 21st to 23rd May 2015 in the Carinthian mountain village Fresach with the theme “How far does tolerance go? Tasks for the state, economy and society” is curated by former MEP Hannes Swoboda. Around 20 thinkers, scientists, philosophers and economists take part in the two days session with their theses and visions of a better world. European Parliament President Martin Schulz and Federal President Heinz Fischer have confirmed their attendance.

Bishop Buenker, the head of the Evangelical Church A.B. in Austria, grew up in Radenthein in Carinthia and therefore has a close relationship with the nearby mountain village Fresach. The small settlement above the Drava Valley played an important role even in the early days of the Reformation. Fresach holds the oldest Protestant prayer house in the country.

Denk.Raum.Fresach to organize European tolerance talks in May 2015

Representatives of politics, business and culture presented the newly founded Denk.Raum.Fresach in Klagenfurt on Thursday, an association for tolerance and integration in Europe. The platform is going to organize European tolerance talks in the small mountain village Fresach on 22/23rd May 2015, and European Parliament President Martin Schulz has already agreed to come.

Background

European Tolerance Talks 2015

In autumn 2014 individuals from business, politics and culture founded Denk.Raum.Fresach – with the aim of creating a forum for dialogue on tolerance and integration in Europe in the Carinthian mountain village Fresach. The successful Carinthian State Exhibition 2011 “Remain credible – 500 Years of Protestant adventure” on the same subject with over 70,000 visitors was already a first step in this direction.
