Human Rights Award for European Tolerance Talks

9th December 2017, a great day for the organizers of the European Tolerance Talks. The Carinthian Human Rights Award 2017 was awarded to the “Denk.Raum.Fresach” for its efforts towards tolerance and humanity. The DRF was selected from 17 submissions, and together with the entire DRF board Superintendent Manfred Sauer got the award in the Hall of Mirrors of the Carinthian government.

The ceremony was attended by Governor Peter Kaiser and Carinthian Councilor Rolf Holub. Kaiser emphasized in his speech that the commitment to tolerance and humanity in the 24 years since this award is given has not lost any of its topicality. It was due to its untiring commitment that the risk of poverty in his state could be reduced to 10.8%. Superintendent Sauer emphasized that this award gives wings and will motivate the whole organization to continue along the path it has embarked on.

The Carinthian Human Rights Award was launched in 1994 with the aim of honoring and placing the spotlight on those people who have committed themselves voluntarily, unselfishly and far away from the broad public perception of respect for human rights. (ws)
