Fresach program preview on 11/3 in Vienna

“The Borders of Europe – Human Rights and the Consequences of Climate Change” are the focus of the European tolerance talks that take place from 11 to 14 May 2016 at Fresach (Carinthia). The program and the selected speakers will be presented on November 3rd, 2015 in Vienna by Denk.Raum.Fresach (DRF), PEN-Club Austria and Club Carinthia. The presentation takes place within a panel discussion at the BKS-Bank.

The preview to the programm 2016 will be devoted to the integration of sustainability as a means of overcoming national conflicts, new border fences, the emigration and the brain drain in the Danube region. The environmental historian Verena Winigarter will report on the project Danube:Future and her efforts to stronger link the sustainability research in the Alps-Adriatic region with the Danube region.

DRF-President Hannes Swoboda provides an overview of the previous activities of Denk.Raum.Fresach and an outlook on the upcoming highlights of 2016. What is the motivation and objectives of the founders of tolerance talks? PEN president Helmuth A. Niederle will explain the motives of the Writers’ Union to support the tolerance talks with internationally renowned writers and philosophers and gives a first preview.
